2. Open Source Community

Red Hat is committed to the open source community model of development. The Red Hat Content Management System is open source, which gives developers maximum flexibility in understanding and extending the technology. The community around Red Hat Applications enables future versions of the Web Application Framework and Content Management System to leverage the lessons and code built by other developers for other projects. The Red Hat Applications engineering team continuously merges code contributed by community members, code developed for Red Hat professional services engagements, and code from our customers.

Red Hat operates a community website dedicated to Content Management System, http://www.redhat.com/, and encourages you to be a part of the CMS community. Both a public mailing list and documentation about the CMS are available through the website. For answers to questions about CMS, review the mailing list archives, read the documentation, and/or post to the mailing list.

There are many different ways that people can contribute to the community. If you see a post to the mailing list that you can answer, feel free to do so. We welcome bug reports, and patches against our code, documentation, tests, and website and should be submitted via Bugzilla http://bugzilla.redhat.com/.
