OpenJUMP is an open source GIS software written in Java. It is based on JUMP GIS by Vivid Solutions.

  • The Unified Mapping Platform (JUMP): Original Project
  • OpenJUMP: Is part of a larger umbrella project called the JUMP Pilot Project (JPP). OpenJUMP adds some key enhancements to the original JUMP software including
    + I18N (iternationalization),
    + more drawing and geometry editing tools,
    + advanced attribute query,
    + enhanced set of selection tools,
    + image export in Scalable Vector Graphics (SVG) format,
    + option to show the actual map scale,
    + function to copy objects including attributes,
    + a tool to zoom to a user defined map scale,
    + it can show layers dependent on the current map scale,
    + preparation for Mr SID? raster files
  • deeJUMP: deeJUMP is a completely JAVA written desktop GIS application. It bases on the JUMP-project managed by y Vivid Solutions enhanced with some additional capabilities taken from deegree. The main additional functions are:
    + support for OGC WMS 1.1.1 (instead of WMS 1.0.0)
    + OGC WFS 1.0.0 client

Connecting to WMS services

Steps

  1. Go to the Layer -> Add WMS Query...
  2. On URL input a discovery URL of your WMS Geoserver. Press Next button to get a list of advertized layers.
  3. Select a set of layers you wish to add. Click Next.
  4. Select a Spatial Reference System for selected layers. Click Finish.
