In this chapter we present IceSSL, an optional security component for Ice applications.
Section 42.2 provides an overview of the SSL protocol and the infrastructure required to support it.
Section 42.3 discusses the installation requirements for each supported language mapping, while
Section 42.4 describes typical configuration scenarios. For programs that need to interact directly with IceSSL, the application programming interface is covered in
Section 42.5 and
Section 42.6. To set up your own certificate authority, you can use the utilities described in
Section 42.7.
