In this chapter, we present the client-side Slice-to-Objective‑C mapping (see
Chapter 20 for the server-side mapping). One part of the client-side Objective‑C mapping concerns itself with rules for representing each Slice data type as a corresponding Objective‑C type; we cover these rules in Sections
18.3 to
18.11. Another part of the mapping deals with how clients can invoke operations, pass and receive parameters, and handle exceptions. These topics are covered in Sections
18.12 to
18.14. Slice classes have the characteristics of both data types and interfaces and are covered in Sections
18.15 and
18.16.
Section 18.17 presents asynchronous invocations, and
Section 18.18 discusses how to use the
slice2objc compiler.
