The screen of the Database Manager GUI is structured into eight different areas. You can change the size of each of these screen areas.

Menu bar

Selection of functions and displays for the current database instance.
The menu bar dynamically adjusts to the selected functions.

Icon bar

The toolbar contains icons that you can use to call up functions shown on the menu bar for the current database instance.

Directory structure of the database instances

Organization of the database instances included in the Database Manager GUI’s list of database instances (as in Windows Explorer).
You can show or hide the directory structure. To do this, choose View ® Tree and select or deselect Tree.

List of the database instances

Database instances included in the Database Manager GUI's list of database instances, their logon status and operational states
If a database instance is in the ONLINE operational state, you also see an overview of its statistics and other important data.

The Menu List of the Current Database Instance

The name of the selected database instance is displayed.
You can display or hide this menu list. To do this, choose View
® Menu and select or deselect Menu.

Output Area

Central screen area
Contains input fields and output values.

Message output area

Display of general and error messages

Database name display

Name of the current database instance, possibly including the name of the database computer and its operational state
