You can transfer existing definitions for backup templates (previously known as “backup media”) from the media definition file control.med (database version 6.2) to the new template definition file dbm.mmm (as of database version 7.2.4.2).
The definition from the old file is not transferred if an identical name exists for the old and new definition file.
The old definitions for backup templates do not contain entries on the relevant backup type for a particular template. For this reason we recommend you define the backup method for a template of this type immediately after the transfer using the DBM command medium_put. If you do not, you have to specify the backup method explicitly later on if you want to start a backup using this template.
