#David Tiller of the University of Canberra undertook a study of the effects of human disturbance on the benthic macro-invertebrate fauna of the Crackenback River in Kosciusko #National Park.
#The river passes by the Thredbo Village, which discharges its sewage effluent, after treatment, 1.5 kilometres downstream. To assess the effects of this potential source of #pollution on the fauna, Tiller chose the following sampling stations or sites:
#Site 1: 1 kilometre upstream of the village;
#Site 2: 1 kilometre below the village;
#Site 3: 1.5 kilometres below the village, ie immediately above the sewage effluent outflow;
#Site 4: 0.2 kilometres below the sewage effluent outflow;
#Site 5: 1 kilometre below the sewage effluent outflow;
#Site 6: 3 kilometres below the sewage effluent outflow;
#Site 7: 4.5 kilometres below the sewage effluent outflow;
#Site 8: 8 kilometres below the sewage effluent outflow.
