Deploying with multiple front-end servers requires additional configuration settings on each front-end server.
All the servers in a multiple-server environment should have their clocks synchronized, typically using NTP (refer to http:/www.ntp.org).
If using Lucene for search on a multi-node system, you must sequentially start up each server during installation. This insures that each server in the cluster has a unique ID. You can also dedicate a single server or set of servers to search. The latter approach is recommended for systems with high volume searches so that user searching does not impact the performance of other Web server activities.
