If you have databases created with a previous version of Red HatDatabase that you would like to use with Red Hat Database 2.1, thisis an overview of the steps required to ensure successful datamigration.
If you have Red Hat Database for Red Hat Linux 7.1 installed:

Dump the original databases to tape, to CD-R/RW, or to a hard disk that will not be erased.
Remove your existing Red Hat Database installation using GnoRPM or a similar tool. The operation of GnoRPM is described in the Red Hat Linux documentation.
Install Red Hat Advanced Server 2.1, Red Hat Linux 7.3, or Red Hat Linux 8.0. Consult your Red Hat Linux manuals for details on this step.
Install Red Hat Database 2.1 using the instructions that follow, then restore your databases.
If you have Red Hat Database 2.0 installed:
Although it is not necessary, we recommend that you dump the original databases to tape, CD-R/RW, or to a hard disk that will not be erased.
Install Red Hat Database 2.1 using the instructions that follow.
Dumping is done with the pg_dumpall utility and restoring is done with psql. Please refer to the Red Hat Database Administrator and User's Guide for more information on how to use these two programs.
