Short Link CSYs Collection Overview

Purpose

The Short Link CSYs collection contains the Bluetooth CSY component. This is primarily to support legacy serial communications.

Architecture

Components

This collection contains Symbian platform components for serial comm server plugins. For Bluetooth it is:

• Bluetooth CSY

  The Bluetooh CSY component supports the RS232 DTE role but not the DCE role. Additionally, security and SDP are more easily set up and managed when using the RFCOMM socket for the DTE role. Also, since Bluetooth CSY uses RFCOMM internally an application developer would be better served using an RFCOMM socket to write an RS232 emulation service. Generally the Bluetooth CSY component is best used to support legacy serial communications (RS232) emulation Bluetooth applications only.
