Commdb supports a two-box device model, which makes it possible to enter multiple modem/location records and definition of a default modem and location. This allows devices with built-in phones to be able to use the built-in phone for SMS, and an external modem for data and fax calls.
The following global settings can be used to specify default modems/locations while setting up a connection.
MODEM_DATA_FAX
: specifies the modem to be used for data and fax connections.
MODEM_PHONE_SERVICES_SMS
: specifies the modem to be used for phone services such as SMS, signal strength, battery strength, phonebook etc.
LOCATION_DATA_FAX
: specifies the location to be used for default modem for fax and data.
LOCATION_PHONE_SERVICES_SMS
: specifies the location to be used for the default modem for phone services.
