Overview

The Symbian Developer Library for Application Developers is the definitive guide and reference for everyone who develops software to run on Symbian OS. Whatever your role, this is the first stop for the answers to your questions about Symbian OS. For example:

Note that the Symbian Developer Library does not document licensee extensions, including licensee platforms and phone-specific User Interfaces. Documentation for licensee extensions is available directly from licensees through their developer support programmes.

Availability

The standard edition of the Symbian Developer Library is distributed by Symbian as an HTML documentation set or Windows HTML Help file (.chm), available as a download directly from the Symbian Developer Network.

Symbian Partners and Licensees are supplied with a version of the Symbian OS library, relevant to their needs, in the distribution kits supplied by Symbian.

Customised versions of the Symbian Developer Library may also be available in Software Development Kits (SDKs) distributed by Licensees.

Web browser compatibility

The Symbian Developer Library is designed to be compatible with any Web browser supporting tables and stylesheets, including Netscape 6.01 and higher, Microsoft Internet Explorer 4.0 and higher, Opera 5.0 and higher.
