Question:
Will my MIDlet carry on executing when it is backgrounded behind another application?

Answer:
Yes, Symbian OS is fully multitasking, so unless the developer programs it to do otherwise a MIDlet will continue executing even when it looses screen focus.
However, in most circumstance to continue executing in the background, consuming power and CPU cycles, is not the right thing to do. For more information on handling backgrounding see the following links:
