Installing Celtix Enterprise Using the GUI Mode

Overview

By default, the installer runs as a Java swing GUI. In this mode, you have full control over what is installed on your local machine.

This mode does not support remote installations.

Running the installer

To install Celtix Enterprise using the GUI mode do the following:

  1. Start the installer by entering the following command:

    Windows

    [Tip] Tip

    You can also start the installer by double clicking on the installer's icon from Windows Explorer.

    *NIX

                    
                      sh celtix-1.1-enterprise-GenericUnix.bin
                    
                  
  2. Click Next to by-pass the introduction screen.

  3. Read the License Agreement.

  4. Select if you want to accept the license agreement.

  5. Click Next.

  6. Enter the top-level directory for your installation.

    You can use file selection dialog by clicking Choose....

  7. Click Next.

  8. If you are installing on a *NIX platform skip to Step 11.

  9. Select where you want the product icons to be installed.

    If you want the short cuts to be installed for all users, place a check in the box next to Create Icons for All Users

  10. Click Next.

  11. Select the component set you wish to install.

    Table 2.3. Installable Component Sets

    Component Set Description
    Celtix Enterprise Full Install (default) Installs all of the components supplied with Celtix Enterprise. This component set is the appropriate selection for a development and testing environment.
    Celtix Enterprise Runtime Install Installs everything but the Eclipse based GUI tools. The command line tools provided as part of Celtix Advanced Service Engine are still installed with this option.
    Custom Installs the components you choose.

  12. Click Next.

  13. If you selected one of the predefined component sets skip to Step 15.

  14. For a custom installation, unselect any components you do not wish to install by removing the check next to them.

    [Tip] Tip

    You can use the Install Set drop-down list to select a one of the configuration sets detailed in Table 2.3, “Installable Component Sets”

  15. Choose a JDK for use by Celtix Enterprise.

    If the desired JDK is not on the list you can do one of the following:

    • Click the Search for Others button to scan your computer for installed JREs.

    • Click the Choose Another... button to find the desired JDK using the system's file explorer.

  16. Click Next.

  17. Check the installation summary.

  18. If the summary is correct, click Install.

    [Tip] Tip

    Clicking Previous will return you to the last screen you saw.

  19. Choose if you want the installer to save the selected options in a properties file.

    The properties file can be used to perform identical installations on other machines. It is most useful when doing silent installs. See Installing Celtix Enterprise in Silent Mode.

  20. Click Next.

  21. If you choose to save the installer properties, enter a name for the properties file and click Next.

  22. Click Next.

  23. Click Done to complete the installation.
