Installing the Celtix Enterprise GUI Tools

Celtix Enterprise includes the service create and SOA system plug-ins from the Eclipse SOA Tools Platform project. If you chose the full installation of Celtix Enterprise or selected the GUI tools as one of the components to be installed as part of a custom installation, the GUI plug-ins are copied to your systems hard drive. However, they are not installed into your Eclipse environment. You must install them manually.

There are two ways to install the included plug-ins:

Using Eclipse update

To add the Celtix Enterprise GUI tools to your Eclipse installation using the Eclipse update mechanism do the following:

  1. Launch Eclipse.

  2. Select Help|Software Updates|Find and Install.

  3. In the Feature Updates panel, select Search for new features to install.

  4. Click Next>.

  5. In the Update sites to visit panel, click New Remote Site....

  6. In the New Update Site dialog do the following:

    1. Enter Eclipse SOA Tools Platform in the Name field.

    2. Enter http://www.iona.com/downloads/celtix/eclipse/ in the URL field.

    3. Click OK.

  7. Click Finish.

  8. In the Search Results panel, select Eclipse SOA tools from the list of features to install.

  9. Click Select Required to ensure that the Eclipse SOA Tools Platform dependencies are also installed.

  10. Click Next.

  11. In the Feature License panel, accept the license agreement.

  12. Click Next.

  13. In the Installation panel, click Finish.

  14. In the Feature verification panel, click Install All.

  15. Once the update is complete, restart Eclipse.

Copying the plug-ins

To copy the Celtix Enterprise plug-ins into an existing Eclipse installation do the following:

  1. Ensure that your Eclipse installation meets the requirements for running the Eclipse SOA Tools Platform. See Requirements for Using the Celtix Enterprise GUI Tools.

  2. Go to the CeltixInstallDir/tools/stp/ directory on your machine.

  3. Extract cxf-eclipse-plug-in.zip to your ECLIPSE_HOME directory.

    [Tip] Tip

    This directory is typically called eclipse.

  4. Extract both servicecreation-distribution.zip and soas-distribution.zip to the parent of your ECLIPSE_HOME directory.

Testing the installation

To test that you have successfully installed the Celtix Enterprise GUI tools do the following:

  1. Launch Eclipse.

  2. Select Help|About Eclipse SDK.

  3. In the About Eclipse SDK dialog, click Feature Details.

  4. Ensure that the Service Creation feature is listed.
