About Security on the Symbian OS

Security on Symbian OS enables data confidentiality, integrity and authentication, and a strengthened secure installation mechanism. It provides APIs for standard cryptographic algorithms, hash key generation, random number generation and certificate management.

The APIs support the notion of Public Key Cryptography, Certificates and Digital Signatures. Introduction to Security provides a quick basic overview on these topics. However, for detailed explanations refer to any of the standard security books available.
