I'm happy to announce that we've officially released the darwinports 1.2.1 release for update via self update. Disk images and tarballs have actually been available on http://www.darwinports.org/downloads for several days.
What's new in this release? Just a couple of things, but they are important:
(1) The darwinports code itself can now be built as a fat (multiarchitecture) binary, and we are supplying a pre-built fat (ppc/ i386) installation of darwinports as a disk image for Mac OS X 10.4. Note that most ports, in and of themselves, will still be built as skinny for the target machine only.
(2) We've incorporated a small hack that should lessen problems in fetching dist files from sourceforge mirrors.
Both of these items were backported into the 1.2 branch from the HEAD branch. Note that it may take several hours for the 1.2.1 code to become available for self-update, as there are several cron jobs that must fire for that to occur.

This allows darwinports to be built as fat, but does nothing to
allow ports themselves to be built as fat. To build darwinports
