You can use the Database Manager GUI to start a database instance.
1. Make sure that the database instance has been included in the list of database instances (see Managing the List of Database Instances).
2. Connect to the DBM server.
3. Determine the operational state of the database instance: Monitoring the Operational State.
Select a database instance in the list of database instances by double-clicking it.
The database instance is in the OFFLINE operational state.

Transferring the database instance to the
operational state ONLINE
Choose Actions
® Online.
The database instance starts.

Transferring the database instance to the
operational state ADMIN
Choose Actions
® Admin.
The database instance is transferred to the
operational state ADMIN.
The database instance is in the ADMIN operational state.

Transferring the database instance to the
operational state ONLINE
Choose Actions
® Online.
The database instance starts.
Each time you start the database
instance, a copy of the log file
knldiag is made under the name knldiag.old. The file knldiag
is overwritten. Use this log file to analyze any errors that occurred when you
started or stopped the database instance.
