A subscription key or service plan number is associated with your Sun support contract and enables you to access additional services. When you provide a valid subscription key, you can use Sun Update Manager to help you manage your updates. If you do not specify a subscription key during registration, you can later add a subscription key by using the Update Manager application or by reregistering your system using the CLI.
If you have a Sun support contract that includes software support, your subscription key might be known as your service plan number, contract ID, support agreement number, or entitlement token.
How to Purchase a Subscription Key or Service Plan Number
To purchase a plan, go to General Solaris OS Support Plans at http://www.sun.com/service/support/software/solaris/.
