With Synaptic (See How do I use Synaptic to install packages?) install: System Administration (universe) > Firestarter After it is installed, run Applications->System Tools->Firestarter to configure your firewall. The firewall will now start in the background when your computer starts.
2.	How do I install a graphical network monitor (EtherApe)?
	Etherape displays network activity among different hosts using circles of varying size. Read How do I add Universe and Multiverse? Install the etherape package with Synaptic (See How do I use Synaptic to install packages?) GNOME Desktop Environment (universe) > etherape Applications->Internet->Etherape
3.	How do I install a network traffic analyzer (Ethereal)?
