Synaptics Touch Pad
To turn off tapping, in Terminal type:
gksudo gedit /etc/X11/xorg.conf
In xorg.conf, go to:
Section "InputDevice"
Identifier "Synaptics Touchpad"
include these options at the end of this section:
Option "SHMConfig" "on"
Option "TappingOff" "1"
Option "MaxTapTime" "0"
Once you have rebooted, you can also install gsynaptics, which gives a Ubuntu-friendly GUI set-up so you can tweak your settings. Once installed, you'll find it here:
System > Preferences > Touchpad
