  • Build tools guide, bld.inf file syntax and MMP file syntax sections document how to create and use template extension makefiles, and the mmp file keywords introduced to reduce the need to create extension makefiles.

  • References to Cuskit GUI and command line installer removed from OS Build Guide and Symbian OS Library

  • New syslibs/caf guide documentation, replacing the old /SecurityGuide/caf section.

  • Updates to MMF Client Overview, Audio Streaming Overview and Audio Play, Recording and Converting Guide Material

Documentation set version:2006-06-00

  • API reference documentation has been updated.

  • Updated example PKG files and associated documentation.

  • EPOC Install (i.e. installation via a PC) documentation has been removed.

  • Documentation for View Server panics has been added. These are the set of panics in the ViewSrv category.

  • A new section On Exporting and Importing Classes in Symbian OS has been added to Essential Idioms.

  • A new section How to use SIPPARAMS has been added to Multimedia Protocols

  • References to aiftool/aifbuilder have been removed. The tools themselves were removed in version 8.1 of Symbian OS.

  • New guide material has been added to describe RBuf. This is a new and useful addition to the family of descriptors. See Using Descriptors.

  • The summary list of E32USER-CBase panic numbers has been updated. Summary descriptions for missing panic numbers in the categories: KERN-EXEC and USER have been added.

  • References to KERN-SVR category panics have been removed as they are no longer used in current versions of Symbian OS.

  • An overview has been added to describe the minimal UI example application.

  • An overview has been added to describe the RTP packet streaming example.

  • An overview has been added to describe the UI example with a menu.

Documentation set version:2005-41-00

  • The name of the documentation set has been changed from "Developer Library" to "Symbian OS Library"

  • There are changes to the look and feel of the Symbian OS Library, including a new style front page

  • Examples documentation contains a complete listing of the example code

  • The "What's New" section has been enhanced and in future will list the changes to API-item reference documentation

  • You can now access the Symbian OS engineering product documentation directly from within the Symbian OS Library. The engineering documents relating to a component are now located in the Symbian OS Guide for that component.

  • There is a new FAQ Knowledgebase that provides answers to frequently asked developer questions, together with other useful tips

  • There is a Feedback link at the top of every page so that readers can send comments about the documentation set to Symbian.
